Stop what you are doing, and for a second, think back to when you were a child. What childhood activity stands out for you, what was so much fun that you wanted to do it over, and over again?
These days adulting can be challenging, and sometimes all we need is to take a break from the busy-ness of life and do something that makes us smile, something that makes us feel like a kid again, and brings a flood of happy memories back.
" So much these days is focussed on technology, that we often slip into the habit of picking up our phones and scrolling through social media the second we have a free minute."
I have many exciting memories. One of the memories that stand out, is making tents in the house and the garden using chairs and bed sheets. Such fun! I remember my friends and I gathering a basket of picnic treats, books and a torch for when evening crept in. I also remember convincing myself that I was going to sleep in my tent, but quickly got over that thought and called my folks to came and help me pack up my temporary hideaway and head indoors. These are the kind of things I get excited about doing with my daughter.
Growing up, I stayed relatively close to a games arcade. I would use most of my pocket money at the arcade and would often spend hours playing games and perfecting my bumper-car skills. Today, it is still one of my favorite things to do. Gia lights up every time we take her to an arcade, the music, lights, and buzz bring out the child in us and a round on the bumper-cars is always a must!
So much these days is focussed on technology, that we often slip into the habit of picking up our phones and scrolling through social media the second we have a free minute. Put it down, put it on silent and learn to appreciate life in the present moment.
Take long bubble baths, walk along the beach at sunset or grab the popcorn and watch some of your favorite childhood classics, reciting almost every word. These are some of the things we love to do. We often call up a few mates and host an evening of board and card games, accompanied by a few pizzas.
