A Letter To My Daughter
Updated: Jan 29, 2018
If there is one phrase that gets repeated very often, it’s other parents telling us how quickly time passes by, and that we must enjoy these moments, because before we know it, it will all be over. It’s been 1 year already since you came into the world, and we can’t believe how fast it has all gone.
"Always be gracious. Your level of gratitude reveals your character."
Thinking back, we can’t seem to understand what we did with all that extra time on our hands. Yes, I admit that our weekends started at around 10am and the first stop was to the kettle and not nappy changing, but would we change anything? Absolutely not!
There's a new found richness and joy that you bring to our lives. The way you smile at us the second your eyes open, the way you prefer to be in mommy or daddy’s arms over others, the excitement you have for the world around you, and the bright sparkle in your eyes that catches passers-by, who always stop and say hello to you. You are quite the little celebrity my darling, and you are loved more than you will ever know.
The world is a big and beautiful place, you will face many challenges & heartaches. You will climb many mountains, but trust me, when you get to the top, the view will be breathtakingly beautiful. These hurdles all form part of your journey through life, they will teach you determination, passion, strength, appreciation and ultimately shape you into a person who will change the world. I want you to never be afraid of failure, but I want you to always try. Over and over again. Failing is our biggest motivator. Failure is our teacher - not our undertaker. Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Go for it. We are behind you all the way.
You are still so little, but we want you to always remember these few things…
You are beautiful, you are smart and you are strong, never forget these 3 things and you will achieve anything.
You are loved. More than you will ever know.
Always be gracious. Your level of gratitude reveals your character.
Be courageous. This trait you will get from your Mom. Always dare to say and do what you think is right. Never be afraid of speaking your mind. Be assertive, not aggressive.
Count your blessings. Each and every day.
No matter where we are, your smile lights up a room. Smile and the world smiles with you.
Eat healthy, look after your body & exercise.
Respect yourself. You deserve only the best, never settle.
We will ALWAYS be here for you. ALWAYS!
I am proud of many things in life, but nothing comes close to the pride I have of being your Dad.
Happy Birthday Bubs - We Love you so much.
